TEMPLE TRIP

On October 11, 2012, we had the privilege of going to the Columbia South Carolina Temple with a group of seven new members. Four have become members since our arriving in Sumter. This temple is only 45 minutes from us.          I Corinthians 15:29

Picking, Grinning and Eating at Wayne's Barn

Wayne's barn September 29 2012
Our friend, Wayne Geddings, has been a member in Sumter, SC all his life. He loves throwing parties at his barn and more than that he loves feeding the missionaries. So, we and the four elders serving with us were invited out on September 29, 2012 to help Wayne and a few of his friends celebrate his mom's 94th birthday.

Baptisms in September and October 2012

September 8, 2012 Clara Flores was baptized by Elder Powell.
Jesse, Clara's son was baptized a couple months ago.

September 29, 2012 Kim Frierson was baptized by Elder Sego.
Elder Peterson looked pretty happy too.

Another great thing about serving our mission in South Carolina.
We were able to attend Kathryn Jane Leckie's baptism. Kate is
our granddaughter. Her mom Geri and her dad Nathan are in
the picture. It was a beautiful day with lots of family and friends
in attendance. Her dress was worn by her Aunt Alison, her mom,
and her cousin Hannah.            Matt. 3:16

The Sumter County Fair 2012

A favorite childhood memory for me is the Sumter County Fair. We used to live across the street, and my brother Frank and I would park cars all week on my uncle's lot to have money for the fair on Friday night. So I took Dick. It was military appreciation night, and we got in free. We also saw some of our families from church who are in the Air Force. Fun time!

Just browsing.

We were a little too big for this one.

More food.

We sat for a while and watched every age ride the swings. The best
was a grandma and her grandson.

Now you know the reason he so willingly went to the fair.

Shaw AFB Kids' Deployment 2012

On September 19, 2012, about 300 kids participated in their own deployment. Many of these kids have a parent deployment or getting ready to deploy soon. MSgt Melton was in charge of organizing this exercise, and we had the pleasure of helping him. Yes, we both cried when the kids "came home".

Our job a couple days earlier was to stuff these backpacks
with lots of cool things needed for deployment.
